Longshoremen Work Returns After Eight Day Strike

In Thomaston Maine Governor Clauson and the executive council commuted Paul N. Dwyer 40 from life to 28 years 5 months making him eligible for parole October 19. He now plans to marry Caroline Pinkos 49 a divorcee with three daughters whom he met as a childhood friend in South Paris. Pinkos welcomed the news and looks forward to marriage. Dwyer was convicted in 1937 for the murder of Dr James G Littlefield and his wife. he has long pressed for clemency while studying law and accounting in prison.

Three High School Girls Caught With Desperados
In Apalachicola Florida three Montana girls and three California men were detained after a highway patrolman stopped a pink 1959 Pontiac stolen in Seattle. In the trunk police found rifles a shotgun ammunition and five sticks of dynamite. The FBI announced the men George R. Jann Frank H. Spicer and Frank E. Fisher would be taken to Tallahassee for arraignment on federal unlawful flight charges. Sheriff Herbert Marshal held the group in Franklin County jail overnight.
