Goosefare pollution blamed on treatment plant and small brook

A study by Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute and Dr. William Flahive found Goosefare Brook and the Bear Brook pumping station as pollution sources. The primary culprit is the Goosefare treatment plant, with a small interconnecting brook also contributing due to private sewer discharges. Recommendations include connecting area sewers to municipal lines and building a secondary treatment facility. EPA and DEP have funded planning for the project.
