Kennebunk residents rallied for a Rotary Bicentennial Park drive on Mousam River with immediate donations from $1,105 raised in minutes. Donations included a $700 check from Savings and Loan President Robert Guptill, $100 from Carl Rickers, and $300 from Selectman David Shields, plus Brownie Troop 211 contributing $5. Campaign aims reach $70,000 to acquire land, demolish buildings, and landscape the site, with headquarters open weekdays and Saturdays for donations and volunteers.

Clifford McIntire, a potato farmer turned congressman who served seven terms for Maine, died early today at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He had been in a coma for eight days after a head first fall from a ladder while working on his Perham home. The Republican had been named to the U S Railway Association board by President Ford and later worked as legislative director for the American Farm Bureau Federation.
