Federal grand jury indicts Krebiozen promoters on 49 counts

A federal grand jury in Chicago indicted the Krebiozen promoters on 49 counts including conspiracy mail fraud and mislabeling. The ounds allege false statements to the government about cancer treatment claims and improper death and cost reporting. Defendants include the Krebiozen Research Foundation and four Chicago men Stevan Durovic Marko Ivy William F P Phillips.

Mediators Seek Strike Bargain Talks

Federal mediators aim to arrange new bargaining sessions between unions and railroad officials to avert a Monday strike that could halt service on most U S carriers. Two Churches Merge in Saco Biddeford Uni tarian-Universalist Union

Two longtime local churches in Saco and Biddeford voted to merge forming the Universalist-Unitarian Church of Saco and Biddeford Maine. The consolidated parish will meet Nov 23 to adopt by laws and appoint a nominating committee. Interim minister Rev L Gordon Adamson of Fortunes Rocks has led since Jan following Rev Edmund Beal’s death.

Smart Curran Endorsed As Aldermanic Hopefuls

Joseph T. Curran and Henry Smart were endorsed as aldermanic candidates by the Saco Democratic City Committee to form the slate for Ward 4 and Ward 2, with Ward 6 to be nominated at tonight’s caucus in Saco City Hall. Other endorsements include Paul Reny for mayor and several ward candidates. Saco GOP Committees Endorse Ward Council Candidates

John E. Anagnostis of 71 King St Saco won Ward 6 endorsement for alderman while Theodore Poirier of Cumberland Avenue was backed by Ward 3 for its alderman candidate. Mayoralty hopeful Harold Waight spoke on turnout, Poirier pledged unity, and Ward 6 backed Col T B Gillett for warden with Grace Stoddard as ward clerk. Ward 3 endorsed Priscilla Hall for ward warden and Meribah Lane as ward clerk.
