Seven Die in Hol yoke Blaze Across Five Story Tenement
A midnight fire in Holyoke Massachusetts destroyed a five story tenement on The Flats killing seven people five of them children. Fire officials say the blaze started on rear wooden porches and was possibly set by a firebug. Officials report 50 to 60 residents fled or were rescued. five were hospitalized. Names of victims include Anita Dupont and her daughter Pauline plus Pauline's sons Maurice and Ronald. Leo and Edward Roberge and Mary Anne Pronovost. Rescue worker Ronald Langlois aided several children before flames forced him to retreat. The fire, the town's worst, left only the brick walls standing. Continued on Page Two.
