In York County Superior Court, motions to dismiss indictments were heard for Lester Armstrong, Donald Gauvin, William Curtis, Lucien Therrien, Ronald Masure, Arnold Goldman, and Theresa Martelle. Justice Delahanty reserved decisions. motions also sought bills of particulars and suppression and return of property seized. Goldman pleaded innocent on illegal bookmaking charges. his case continued.

Three Gorham State College seniors have signed teaching contracts for Maine schools next fall. Suzanne Brooks of Kennebunkport will teach English at Jordan Small School in Raymond after student teaching at Cousins School in Kennebunk. Richard Sweeney of Old Orchard Beach will teach at Traip Academy in Kittery after Westbrook High School student teaching. Nelson Berry Jr. of Augusta will teach at Sanford High School after C.K. Burns Junior High School student teaching.

A surprise bridal shower for Dorothy Nadeau daughter of Mr and Mrs Lucien Nadeau was held at the Disabled American Veterans Hall in Biddeford. The event honored her ahead of her June wedding to Paul Tousignant at St Joseph Church with mother and Mrs Irene Tousignant hosting. A buffet lunch and a purse gift from Patsy Paulieu were featured among a long list of attendees and gift presenters.
