Violence Predicted If Voting Bill Enacted

Round-The-Clock Raids Batter North Viet Nam

An American sergeant was killed, another wounded, and a third missing after a Viet Cong ambush 60 miles northwest of Saigon. U S warplanes pounded targets in North Viet Nam while a large air assault supported by South Vietnamese forces reported Viet Cong casualties. The war effort included strikes on radar sites, depots, bridges, and river boats, with ships from Midway and Coral Sea taking part. In Saigon, a political dispute over ministerial appointments surfaced as U S Ambassador Taylor planned a Washington trip to report on Viet Nam. Johnson approved a new embassy building project in Saigon following the March 30 Viet Cong bombing.
