Front Row Starters Favored At Indianapolis
Indy 500 pundits favor front row as likely winner with A J Foyt on pole Gordy Johncock second and Bobby Unser hot on their heels. Eight of past 15 winners came from the front row while defending champ Rutherford won from 25th a year ago. Wally Dallenbach, hampered by mechanicals, sits 21st but has the fourth fastest car. Foyt remains the strong favorite at 7-2. If he reaches the finish, expect 11 to 14 cars still running.
