Wells High Band Heads to Portland for Festival Parade
Nearly 60 members of the Wells High school band majorettes and choir depart by two buses for Portland to take part in the Western Maine Music Festival. The band auditions at 9 a.m. in King Junior High and the choir at 10 a.m. in West school. They will also appear in the afternoon parade under music supervisor Miss Carolyn Colby. A concert last night by The New Hampshiremen at Wells Junior High gymnasium featured a 65 voice chorus directed by John J. Zei with Carl Goodwin Arthur Pryor and Philip Bell as soloists and brass choir accompaniments. The event was hosted by the Wells Band Roosters with supper at locals’ homes.
