Washington AP reports Nixon is seen as likely editor in chief of the Republican platform with Everett Dirksen drafting planks. Governors push for regional hearings to inject moderating views, while Bliss backs Dirksen. Nixon plans talks with all 26 governors and aims to shape a platform aligned with a potential victory. The piece notes Nixon’s past Eisenhower ties and possible shifts if delegate support grows.
