Irish Parade Sparks Massive St Patrick’s Day Pageant

Dwyer Testifies He Took Blame in 1937 Murder

Rumford AP report that lifer Pawnbroker Dwyer testified he admitted guilt for murdering elderly country doctor in 1937 because it was the only option. He accused Francis M. Polio survivor Mrs Krider delivers first child in C section

Dr Levesque Celebrates 61st Birthday in Community Care

Dr Georges Levesque, longtime Biddeford physician, marks his 61st birthday while continuing house calls and hospital rounds. A Montreal trained doctor, he has served residents for 34 years, with office at 5 Graham Street and hospital staff duties. A surprise party on South Street honored him with family and friends, including wife Mrs Levesque and children Norman Desrochers Marcel Levesque and Albert D Cote, plus four grandchildren. The blizzard tale recalls his early era delivering seven babies in one day and shoveling through snow to reach patients.

Downs Will Head Beach School Panel

Benjamin Downs was elected chairmen of the Old Orchard Beach school committee for 1959 60 at a meeting in the Jameson school last night. Other appointments announced were Dr Donald Skillings school physician Ernest Murphy tru lant officer Mrs Mary Smith home economics advisor and school lunch advisor Downs repair advisor and Leslie Wyman music and athletic advisor. The resignation of Myron Pierce was accepted with regret by the committee. In other action the committee voted to purchase firefox sprinkler units to be placed over the school boilers. They also voted to accept a shelter plan of the recorporation of Boston ass The company would construct concrete covered shelters at the bus routes in Old Beach to shelter students from rain at no cost to the school a advertising space on the outside the shelters would be sold by a company to defray costs of construction.
