Children’s Theater Coming To Thornton
Over 3,000 area public and parochial students will be bused or walked to Thornton Academy's Linnell Gymnasium on Monday March 18 to see Babu, a live production by the Children's Theater International. Two shows, 9:30 a.m. for Biddeford students and 1 p.m. for Saco and Old Orchard Beach youngsters, aim to expose students to high quality live acting. The event is backed by the York County Branch of the American Association of University Women with help from Biddeford and Saco school departments and the Maine Council on Arts and Humanities, led by committee chair Mrs. Jon Nathanson and board members. The play Babu is a one hour piece introducing India’s culture through dance, music, costumes, and architecture, written by James Ambrose Brown, an English playwright living in South Africa. it marks Brown’s first professional U.S. production of the work.
