Albany, N Y AP The Board of Regents declares the Supreme Court ruling banning official prayers in public schools as the law of the land and directs local officials to halt morning prayers. Some officials threaten to defy the ban, urging stress on moral values through the school day.
The National Safety Council warned 110 to 150 Americans may die in traffic crashes during the Independence Day holiday, with 6 000 to 8 000 injured beyond the day.
