Money Managers Are Needed By Harry C France
An 80 year old widow in a village near New York seeks higher returns with low risk. High grade preferred stocks and solid blue chips yield 8 percent plus, and a capable fee based money manager could improve her finances. The author urges 50,000 ethical, freelance investment counselors and invites readers to study becoming advisers. The Forum note shares the author’s startup story from 1930.

Then On the Other Hand by HAL BOYLE
HAL Boyle riffs on marriage revealing how charm fades after the vows as a husband turns from gallant suitor to grumbling, careless mate. The piece contrasts longing courtship behavior with everyday fatigue, blaming marriage for revealing the beast in the white shirt. Alfred E. Smith is referenced as the Happy Warrior.
