Forest Service Muzzling Accusations Reach Senate Hearing
Sen Henry M Jackson faces charges of muzzling the Forest Service during the North Cascades park debate. Sanctioned by the Sierra Club and supported by the North Cascades Conservation Council, the plan seeks a 570 000 acre park, with critics pushing toward a 783 460 acre national park in a larger recreation area. Aiming for Senate passage this year, the dispute centers on preserving wild lands vs logging interests.
