TV Study Of Gambling Was Heavy Footed

Cynthia Lowry reports a busy weekend of TV specials with weak writing and loaded clichés. ABC's Everybody's Got a System examined gambling with heavy narration and lackluster lead-ins while Terry-Thomas struggled with the script. CBS aired Fanfare as a summer Ed Sullivan style package featuring Al Hirt and varied acts, with uneven comedy. ABC attempted a two day live satellite broadcast of Le Mans but a failure spoiled the morning feed. The finish showed Le Mans is poorly suited for TV due to the eight mile course.
