A full size replica of HMS Rose, a pre Revolutionary War British frigate, will be launched in spring 1970 as a floating restaurant on Newport Waterfront. The original Rose, launched in 1757 at Yorksh ire, once commanded by Sir James Wallace, reportedly deterred Newport trade and influenced the town's development away from city status.
