Old Orchard House Sold At Beach By Bill Casavant
Old Orchard House at Old Orchard Beach has new owners, Old Orchard House Inc., led by president on Staples Street and vice president on the rear of the hotel. Former owners Robert B. Smith, Margaret Smith, and Nan Smith sold their interest. Rich Pratt and Patricia Plante will take active management, with Allard A. Plante noted as brother of a principal shareholder. The nine unit hotel remains with dining room, Wishing Well service bar, and plans include lobby refurbishments and front improvements. Memorial Day start, Labor Day finish, with a grand opening weekend in June.

Manslaughter Verdict Returned in New Hampshire Case
A York County jury found Ralph F. Goodwin to be guilty of manslaughter for the July 16 1968 killing of his wife Marilyn K Hansen Goodwin in Sanford Maine. The eight day trial ended after eight hours of deliberation with Goodwin admitting the fatal shooting during a heated domestic dispute. Justice Albert Knudsen set sentencing for 9 30 am the next day with a proposed term of 10 to 12 years in state prison.
