Plante Seeks HUD Waiver for Community Project Funds
OLD ORCHARD BEACH Acting Town Manager Jerome Plante says he mailed a letter to HUD in Washington seeking a waiver of application rules for a $500,000 community development fund proposal for an incinerator and swimming pool. The Manchester regional HUD office said resubmission this year would be too late after the April 20 deadline. Plante delayed contacting HUD to gain congressional support, saying he discussed with Sen. William Hathaway and planned talks with offices of Sen. Edmund Muskie and Rep. David Emery.

The strategy may shift to 1979 or 1980 depending on sales, with management keeping a hedge on timing. All automakers push smaller models to meet mileage standards and curb imports.
