A 1827 log jam near Salmon Falls on the Saco River drew workers from Col Lane and Moses Dion Sions to Ben Fogg Temple Foss and Jonathan Cousens. The jam ended with drownings of Fogg and Foss, a lifesaving stand by Cousens, and a hazardous flood of logs through a 62 foot falls.
