POW Captain Brudno Dies From Drug Overdose
White Plains AP reports Capt. Edward A. Brudno a Vietnam returnee and former prisoner of war died from an overdose of phenobarbital. He was found at his in law’s Harrison New York home last Sunday. He would have turned 33 the next day. A French note indicated he believed life was not worth living.

Man Electrocuted Assisting Victims in Route 201 Crash
Ernest Placey 58 of Portland was electrocuted while aiding crash victims after a car left the wet highway, struck a utility vehicle and rolled. Two brothers, 9 and 6 from Augusta, were hospitalized in critical condition at Maine Medical Center. other occupants escaped serious injury.
