Crash Victim Feels Lucky In Bangor Hospital

Hamden resident Howard A. Treadwell 23 of Hermon is hospitalized in Bangor with bruises and a deep laceration after a gravel truck lost steering when a tie rod end failed on Emerson Mill road. The empty 10 wheel truck skidded 80 feet, crashed through a bridge railing, dropped 40 feet, hit the stream bank, and bounced into shallow water 11 feet below. Officials said the vehicle was wrecked.

Eastport man ordered committed after abduction and assault

A 24 year old Eastport clam digger was ordered committed to Bangor State Hospital for mental observation after allegedly abducting his 2 year old son from his estranged wife and striking a witness as he was about to go to court. Municipal Court Judge Wesley J. Vose ordered the commitment after the man punched a man who tried to take the child last night. He was brought in on an assault charge and held without bail.

NORTH HAVEN Conn PA strike of production workers spreads today to all seven plants of the United Aircraft Corp. There was some violence when the walkout began in North Haven.
