Linda Eldredge and Nancy Kimball, two Alfred women, halted traffic as three horses, a mare and two colts, ran loose past the Journal office. They lured and corralled the animals near Roger's Sports Shop, ending the erratic chase.
Linda and Nancy joined motorists in a frantic chase as Cheyenne the mare and her two Shetland ponies Petite and Peanut bolted. A truck driver helping Nancy corralled the horse by its bridle while a Biddeford officer watched the roundup from his car. The ponies, owned by Lucy Breault, roam near 63 Western Ave. and are described as pets that sometimes escape from pasture behind the Hi Way Steer House.
