Lafayette Leads Virginia Campaign In 1781
The New Jersey Gazette notes British forces under Arnold burn, seize and loot in Virginia as Lafayette volunteers to lead a relief army. Washington sends 1200 Continentals. Lafayette ferries troops from Annapolis to Richmond to bolster defenses before Cornwallis moves toward Yorktown. Over months, Lafayette and Wayne join Virginia militia while Clinton and Cornwallis clash over strategy and a Yorktown trap forms.
