East St. Louis wins Mobil extension on tax bill
East St. Louis secured a credit extension from Mobil Oil to Aug 1 after paying 4000 on a 17000 bill tied to trash collection fees. The city, facing a 60000 payroll shortfall, has operated in the red since 1951 and issued wage consignments last week. In Honolulu, bikini clad University of Hawaii students protested new pool rules despite strong turnout. Pool attendants cited safety and viewing windows that expose swimmers, which led to off limits signage.

Canadian Mails Halted By Nationwide Postal Strike
OTTAWA AP Postal workers walked out halting mail service nationwide and no talks were set for Sunday. About 24,000 workers rejected a government wage offer of 15 cents to raise the top pay from 2.75 to 2.90 per hour. William Houle called the offer a big joke and urged 75 cents more an hour unless fringe benefits rise.
