Crop Loss Expected To Exceed $125 Million
Four days of heavy rains have inundated over a million acres of cropland across North Dakota and Minnesota. Officials estimate losses will top 125 million dollars as fields in the Red River valley remain flooded. Extensions note 60 to 100 percent crop destruction with sunflowers, sugar beets, wheat, oats, barley, soybeans and potatoes impacted. Ozzie Daellenbach of Clay County calls the damage unprecedented. Flooding threatens rivers including the Red, James, Sheyenne and Maple as storms continue.
