Mothers' March Nets Over $2,000 in Twin Cities
Mothers' March for the March of Dimes raised more than two thousand dollars in the Twin-City area last night with more receipts expected as canvassing continues. In Biddeford nearly eleven hundred dollars was counted at headquarters, and two additional captains were named. In Saco about one thousand fifty-three dollars and fifty-four cents were counted at the City clerk’s office and banked this morning, with numerous area workers listed and continued efforts noted.

Hearing Slated On Maine Industrial Accident Case
The Maine Industrial Accident commission will hold a hearing at 3 45 PM tomorrow in Biddeford Municipal Court on the case of Mrs Madeleine Boisvert of 5 Marshall Avenue Biddeford seeking further disability payments for injuries suffered in June 1959 at Bruce Shoe Company where she worked as a machine operator The 40 year old mother of one son lost three fingers on her right hand and sustained other injuries The attorney Richard Spitz of Fortunes Rocks said an adjuster originally told 48 weeks of payments but this was increased to 80 weeks He contends payments are insufficient given total disability including healing period and permanent impairment A commission decision last June closed the case but was reopened late last year Spitz said He also sought to have Maine Labor Commissioner Marion Martin appear at the hearing Spitz noted a doctor found Boisvert cannot do more machine work and can only operate an elevator or perform light house work The firm later employed her in the stock room

Grafton Firm Expands Limited Lumber Production
Grafton Lumber Co located in Biddeford Saco shops has begun limited finger jointing production with about 60 workers and plans to reach 300. The plant also will manufacture caskets, with operation in the casket side expected in about three weeks. Machinery and training are in place in building 30 of the Biddeford Saco Development Corp. The 499000 square foot facility uses modern saws, finger jointing, glue, drying and cutting to produce sheets and custom dimensions. Historical note cites an Area Redevelopment Administration loan of 432900 plus 100000 in bank loans and 66300 investments from a local nonprofit and the firm itself.
