A Vinalhaven figure Everett Libby dies at 66
Everett Libby, 66, key in establishing a state ferry service for Penobscot Bay, died in a Boston hospital. An insurance broker and longtime island town clerk, he also served as Knox County commissioner and treasurer. He helped form the Vinalhaven Development Association and led the campaign for the ferries. The largest vessel bears his name. He is survived by widow Ida, daughter Mrs. Bruce King of Beverly, Mass., and son Richard E. of Wayne, N.J. Funeral is set for 2 p.m. Friday at an island funeral home.
