Photo of Booth as dapper front-shot actor surfaces in Chicago
A Chicago collector bought an 11 by 14 inch photo showing John Wilkes Booth in colonial dress with an upturned mustache. The image, possibly taken in 1863 or 1864 as a publicity shot, may be the only known front view. Booth is depicted in a long silk coat with ribbed shoulders, ruffled shirt, white hose and buckle shoes. The photo’s back bears Booth’s name but is not his signature. Lincoln’s assassin shot him on April 14, 1865, at Ford's Theatre and died in a Virginia barn after a dramatic escape.

Court lets doctor decide on keeping Dockery on respirator
