Plante will be appointed OOB town manager for the second time after serving as acting town manager from January 1975 to April 1976. He previously held the top administrative post before being replaced by Tucker.
Jerome Plante was chosen as town manager after hearings and interviews. The council approved a $17,000 salary plus $1,500 expenses, and Plante will be sworn in today as Councilor Timothy Tucker resigns in protest of the appointment.

Wholesale prices edged up 0.5 percent in January, continuing inflationary momentum. The Labor Department noted that winter frigid conditions are not fully reflected yet and the fuels and power component of the index fell 0.4 percent from December. In Dallas last week 15 year old Jesse Medina killed himself with a 22 caliber rifle after rumors that he was a police informant spread at Sunset High School. His uncle cites a gang of eight to ten drug users and pushers as influential in his death. A student reported threats to Jessie’s mother and possible self harm as rumors persisted.
