Mamie Eisenhower falls ill at Gettysburg farm home

Mamie Eisenhower, widow of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, became ill today at her farm near the Gettysburg Battlefield and was taken by ambulance to Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington. The illness type was not disclosed. Her son John, reached in Phoenixville, asked that any statements come from her doctor. She is 79.

Break-In Attempt at Ford Campaign Offices Fails

Washington police reported an attempted break-in at the Ford campaign committee offices in a downtown building. Tampering signs appeared around a door and the burglar alarm tripped, but the offices on the 10th floor were not entered and nothing was missing. A building search found no suspects.

Farmington man dies after double shooting and self harm

In Farmington Maine a 38 year old Keith Norton wounded a woman 30 Jean Ann Hovey then shot himself in the head. Norton died en route to hospital while Hovey is in critical condition with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred around 1130 p m Tuesday in Miss Hovey's apartment. A neighbor alerted authorities.
