Gemini 7 Ends 14 Day Space Flight With Splashdown

Astronauts Frank Borman and James Lovell returned to Earth in the Gemini 7 capsule after a 14 day mission. The craft splashed down in the Atlantic at 9 05 a m EST about 11 to 17 miles from the carrier Wasp as medical checks were readied aboard the ship. Their flight set endurance and distance records in the space race with the United States leading Russia in several metrics.
