The Saco Manufacturing Company plans a $100,000 plant, with spring 1964 construction. Designed by Philip Snow, the brick two story front includes a 10,000 sq ft cedar block production area and a 10,000 sq ft storage building. The expansion aims to diversify lines and triple employment soon. The company, founded 1872 as Furber Pump Shop, now makes wooden winding cores for textiles plastics rubber and paper. Peter W. Hellige, MIT graduate, owns the firm since nine years, married to Elizabeth Armstrong of Bath, with son Richard at Northeastern University.
