Sgt Alvin York, 75, World War I Medal of Honor recipient, is back at his mountain home near Pall Mall Tennessee after a Nashville hospital stay for bedsores and a urinary tract infection. Doctors say he should do well at home despite years bedridden and multiple health scares.
Walter L. Worthing will replace Robert E. Brackett as manager of Central Maine Power Company's Southern Division, with districts in Portland Biddeford York and Sanford. Worthing, a CMP veteran of 26 years, started as a Bath collector in 1937 and rose through accounting district auditing and supervision before moving to Portland on a special assignment in May. Brackett, a Limington native and University of Maine graduate, retires after a long CMP career that followed Cumberland County Power and Light and Portland Railroad roles.
Miss Marie Lorraine Grenier daughter of Mr and Mrs Lionel Grenier of 267 Elm Street Biddeford became the bride of James C Wofford son of Howard Wofford of Battle Creek Michigan and Mrs Charles C McGuire of Kalamazoo Michigan The couple plan to reside in Argentia Newfoundland after her graduation from Biddeford High School and his service in the U S Navy.
Mr and Mrs Carl F Gilbert and daughter Pamela of Eden Lane returned from a four day motor trip to Skowhegan and Smithfield visiting his brother and family Harold Gilbert and staying at Smithfield Lake camp. They lunched with Ralph Norton of Falmouth on the way home. Mr and Mrs A E Orino of Rumford were guests of her cousin Mrs Margaret Lynch of Union Avenue for a few days.
