Whales Surround Fishing Boat Near Wood Island Light

Captain John Narsiff reports a herd of 30 to 40 whales surrounding the Mary C as it rode inbound from a deep sea trip near Wood Island Light House. The whales rolled and spouted water, then moved south after about ten minutes, leaving Narsiff awed by the close encounter and likening it to old whaling days.

Petitions Seek Liquor Ban and Sunday Races in Old Orchard Beach

Two petitions circulating in Old Orchard Beach aim to ban Sunday liquor sales and Sunday horse racing.
