AG seeks lift of gag order in Saco lending case

Lobstermen eye prices yet keep hauling traps

In Cape Porpoise about 75 lobstermen went to sea as usual while watching prices drop from a month ago. Dealers report steady but lower prices around 1.40 per pound, with regional markets feeling calmer than Portland and northward. Retail prices remain high though demand is down, and fishermen warn larger lobsters are scarcer as volumes rise in York County.

UFO sighting over Saco puzzles residents. camera proves stationary dot

Grady Sexton of Old Orchard Beach photographed a very bright dot in the sky Monday night from 11 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Ross Road. Police examined the scene with him but filed no report. He kept the shutter open five minutes, creating star streaks that show the dot remained unmoving. The image includes a tree outline and points east, ruling out the North Star. Local onlookers, about 15 to 20, watched the phenomenon amid speculation. no complaints have been logged with Saco police.

Congress Deadlock on Banning Funds for Abortion

The Senate and House remain deadlocked over banning federal funds for abortions. A 53 to 35 Senate vote rejected adopting the ban as an amendment to a $56.6 billion Labor HEW appropriation. House approval would still face a presidential veto by Ford.
