Talks Planned on Withdrawing 50,000 U.S. Troops from Thailand

Traveling pharmacist seeks to fill a prescription in all 50 states

Trees For Saco fund nears goal as plans advance

Early gifts and Tag Weekend proceeds total near 1000 dollars in a drive to raise 12000 for replacing diseased elms on Saco streets. Chairman Mrs Philip Snow reported over 900 dollars at her home. The Saco Street Department will plant, with trees supplied by local nurseryman Robert Moody, and stakes and guy wires arranged. Donations to treasurer Richard C Gray at Canal National Bank continue.

Saco Mayor Seeks Bond Action for Elm Tree Cleanup

Saco Mayor Armand J. Mercier voiced disappointment at a special council session that a bond issue to remove dead and dying elm trees cannot be floated under current city charter. He planned to seek a measure to fund disposal of hazards, but the proposal requires a project with life like a building or street. Local officials and business leaders are coordinating support with Gov Curtis and a list of residents and firms including Land Mfg Co and Garland Mfg Co, while outlining planting needs such as guy wires, hose, stakes, loam, and manure.
