Cost Of Living Rises Further In July

The Labor Department reports July cost of living up five tenths of one percent from June, driven by higher food and service prices with declines only in used cars and gasoline. The index reaches 128.2, with food costs up about 1 percent and meat and poultry rising, while apparel declines soften. Gross weekly earnings reach 115.44, up 0.68 from June, keeping purchasing power about the same as prices climb.

Blast Wrecks Cabin Cruiser in Portland Explosion

A boat explosion at Rand's Marina Little Diamond Island destroyed the 35 foot cabin cruiser Reaper II.
