James Meredith, a 30 year old, is the first Black graduate of the University of Mississippi in 115 years. The low key ceremony followed violent clashes a year earlier, with 16 marshals present and about 2 500 whites in attendance alongside Meredith and his family. Gov. Saco Firm To Build New Plant

Wells Resident Killed In Crash On Spaulding Turnpike

Richard W. Tetherly, 40, of Wells, Maine, was killed when his automobile left the Spaulding Turnpike and overturned. Police said he was thrown from the car and found in a brook several hundred feet from the wreck shortly before 2 a.m.
