Kennebunkport Town Meeting Tackles Land Deals and Donations

Prospective land purchases donations and transfers dominate Monday's special town meeting in Kennebunkport. Voted items include spending 35000 to lease and develop a 30 acre tract including the town dump, and transfers for 4.25 acres to relocate part of Kings Highway and allow McGrory and Wright gifts to the Conservation Trust. Additional items set a tax anticipation borrowing limit and allocate 8100 federal revenue sharing for the Hutchins School Bridge reconstruction.

All Safe In Crash Of Jet

A Continental Airlines Boeing 727 crashed on takeoff from Stapleton International Airport near Denver. Of 131 aboard, all survived though 38 were treated in hospitals and 15 admitted. The plane rose about 100 feet and belly landed in a grassy field after retracting its landing gear.
