Visitors tour Panmunjom Joint Security Area near DMZ
In Panmunjom the Joint Security Area centers as UN and North Korean officers exchange truce violation notes. Daily duty officers file arrivals and departures while visitors view the armistice center and the Peace Pagoda from the compound edge. The site, ringed by mixed guards, hosts some 11 000 tourists yearly and sits 37 miles north of Seoul.
