Alexander J. Boulton aged 75 died at 7 50 p m Wednesday night at his Gogebic Station home after a brief illness He was born February 7 1870 on Sugar Island near Sault Ste Marie He lived in Gogebic County 25 years operating Boultons Tavern He is survived by his wife a son Thomas James of Chicago and a brother James of Gogebic Station Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.

Mr and Mrs Heino Suomi of 214 Lincoln Street announce their son Sulo Suomi, a former aerographer on the cruiser Houston, has been liberated after three and a half years as a prisoner of war. He was aboard the Houston when it sank in the Battle of the Java Sea in February 1942, and his parents learned of his capture in Burma about two years later.

Herald Publisher Dies in Gun Accident at Home
Maurice R. Burt 52 publisher of this paper and WWI veteran died instantly at his 304 West Lead Street home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound while cleaning a .38 revolver in the basement. Coroner ruled accidental death no inquest. He leaves a widow Mary and daughter Maureen, plus his mother and three brothers. Burt helped found the Herald Publishing Company and was a longtime sports supporter and bowling enthusiast.

Plan to Improve Gogebic County Airport Seeks Manager
Gogebic county board discussed appointing Paul D. Hosier, former Ashland airport manager, as airport manager for two years at 150 dollars per month to lead improvements. Plans include 50 foot by 2,640 foot gravel and blacktop runways with 10 foot shoulders, grass cutting, winter snow packing, safety signs, and underground electric lines subject to utility approval. Estimated runway costs total 7,799 with gravel at 3,400 and blacktop at 4,399, plus purchase of a tractor and mower. The board approved pursuing state funds and interviewing the state aeronautics department for possible assistance.
