Bayliss Recalls Old County Fair History and Park Plans
Long excerpt recalls the county fair’s funding struggles and the push for a new building. It notes past arrangements by the Board of Supervisors, gate receipts, and benefits to farmers. It then traces the Ironwood Trotting Association, Curry Park development, and the 1915 formation of the Gazett County Fair and Agricultural Association. Details cover site selection between Bessemer and Ironwood, park acquisitions, the 1925 cattle pavilion construction, exhibits, races, notable cattle and youth awardees, and premium revenues and allocations.

Changes in Michigan Public Safety reorganize troopers
Alan G. Straight's reorganization of the Department of Public Safety tightens control over five uniformed troops based in Negaunee Gaylord St. Clair Paw Paw and Flat Rock with district commanders. The State Police School directs training under Captain Scavarda while Lt. Cleghorn assists. The framework adds a state detective bureau a free lance gambling squad and a border patrol shift with local officers handling city enforcement of prohibition.

1925 County Fair praised for entertainment and success
The free acts were well received and provided fine entertainment between heats of horse races. The 1925 Fair passes into history as the best held in the County and I trust the efforts of the Fair Association merit the approval of all the residents of the County, and that they may be accorded even greater support in future years, Edwin R. Bayliss.
