Bessemer Firemen Win Big At Negaunee Tournament

Bessemer’s running team captured six top prizes at the Negaunee tournament, delivering a record setting performance welcomed by a jubilant home crowd. The volunteers earned praise for discipline and focus, despite intense competition and a split score deciding the association prize.

Painesdale Earns Third in Regulation Hose Race at Tourney

Painesdale, youngest club in the association, won third prize a silver water pitcher for performance in the Regulation Hose Race No 2. Frank Koppler resigned as first vice president to move from the state. Harry Barr of Ironwood elected in his stead. The committee reports sufficient funds to cover all expenses with some left over. Ishpeming hosts praise Negaunee firemen and their equipment after a visit. Some locals criticize the eve ning “paint the town red” incident. blame spread to visitors and locals alike. Next tourney set for Hancock. Copper Country train carried over 400 passengers. Marquette Mining Journal credits Harry Meagher of the Bessemer team as best coupler.
