October ore movement reached 4 877 441 tons, below last season's 6 625 801 tons. Through November 1 shipments rose 3 712 801 tons versus last year, but by November 1 1909 total stood 39 975 808 tons. Expectation is for a heavy November slump and total year movement near 1900 levels. Shipments by port include Escanaba 4 507 517 tons Marquette 998 503 Ashland 3 018 669 Superior 1 802 254 Two Harbors 7 765 108, totaling 139 978 308 for 1910 against 36 266 334 for 1909. New post office rules shorten return time to five days if no return date is listed. registered mail may be delivered to someone who handles mail for the addressee.

Edward Mueller Dies After Prolonged Illness
Edward Mueller, a well known young man of this city, died Tuesday morning at Seelock at his parents home, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Mueller. Born September 16, 1882 in Hortonville Wisconsin, he moved to Bessemer as a youth and graduated from the local high school in 1902. He worked at the Mesaba range, then for J. E. Butler in Stearns Kentucky, was married in 1906, fell ill in 1907, sought relief in Denver in 1908, and returned home where he remained until his death. He was a member of the K P and Masonic lodges in Williamsburg Kentucky and leaves his parents, two brothers, and a sister. Funeral was held Thursday at St Sebastian Church.

The county board of canvassers led by J A Sullivan and Win Russell reviewed the sheriff race ending with John Rowett ahead by nineteen votes over Timothy F Killeen after adjustments in Ironwood fifth ward where seven Rowett votes shifted to Killeen and two from Rowett to Richards. The board found no other irregularities statewide.

Circuit Court News in Ironwood Trial Summaries
The circuit court in Ironwood tried seven cases this week. Joseph Thomas was found guilty of assault, fined $50 plus $115 costs, totaling $165 or 50 days in jail. Nestor Majanen was acquitted of dynamite charges against his wife. Other matters included settlements and judgments: Daly vs Dick left as non suited, Reis and Berkowitz vs Township of Ironwood awarded $155 plus $25 costs, and Talkowski vs Jawatcki verdict for plaintiff at $75. The Talkowski case against Jawatcki and others was still in progress at press time.
