A rummage sale sponsored by the Presbyterian Ladies' Aid will be held Saturday November 27 at the Felling building with donations solicited from members. Mrs Alfred Roberts is general rummage sale chairman. Plans include a bake sale Saturday December 18 at the Johnson Hardware store.

Jewelry shop opens in Kristianson building by Rintala
Arvo Rintala of Bessemer opens a jewelry and gift store in the Kristianson building on Sophie street after Florence Beauty Shop vacated. The shop offers jewelry, dinnerware, watches, clocks, and miscellaneous items. Rintala previously ran a home watch and clock repair business for twelve years and worked at the Ramsay mine. St Veronica's court of the Catholic Order of Forresters affiliated with the National Catholic Council of Women after a meeting last weekend and Marquette special session. Mary Matrella reported Gogebic County Tuberculosis League activity. Ingrid Baksic and Dorothy Czajkowski were chosen to represent the league in Ironwood December meeting. The group planned a December 22 Christmas party with gifts and a program. Prizes went to Mary Jacquart and Ingrid Baksic. hostesses were Matrella Bria and Nettie Walkowski.

Remains of Pfc Mathew Rouker to Arrive Saturday
The remains of Pfc Mathew J Rouker of Puritan are expected to reach the Soo Line in Bessemer Saturday morning. He was killed in action north of Florence Italy on Sept 24 1944 while serving with the Blue Devil division. Funeral services will be held Monday at St Sebastian church with military rites conducted by the Fredrickson Torreano post of the American Legion. Rouker was born in Bessemer Jan 25 1924 and later moved to Puritan. He starred in football and basketball at Puritan Junior High and A D Johnston High School and enlisted in November 1942 after working at Packard Motor Company in Detroit. He left for Europe in early 1943 for infantry duty.

Walter Lobb 75, longtime Marenisco resident, died Monday at Infirmary hospital after five years of treatment. A McNicholas Lumber veteran, he served eight years on the Marenisco board of education and was active in Presbyterian church and community life. Surviving: brother Edward Lobb of Bessemer and nephew George Mall of Marenisco. Monsignor Meyer to speak on tour of Europe November 28 at Iron County Memorial building with moving pictures. Pilgrimages—from May to October—draw hundreds of thousands to Fatima Lourdes and Rome sites. Freewill offering invited. event by Catholic Women’s Council Knights of Columbus Holy Name Society. Celeste Fino Dies After Illness in Rochester
Celeste Fino, 62, died Monday at St. Mary's hospital Rochester after a month long illness. Born in Via Italy on July 25 1886 he came to Bessemer in 1921 to join his sister Mrs Eugenia Perotti they ran the Perotti hotel until 1944. He later worked at Pricco Bros bakery and belonged to St Sebastian church Holy Name Eagles and Gebogic aemie. Surviving niece Mrs Andrew Pricco and nephew John Perotti.
