Early Wednesday at 3 30 a m the candy store on Moore Street owned by August Mikkila was gutted with stock ruined. The building owned by S Simons and formerly used by Bessemer Bottling Works sustained smoke and heat damage with the front room destroyed. Firemen battled the blaze as flames flared from shelves and a glass window shattered from the heat. No one was inside and investigators suspect a burning cigarette caused the fire.
