Gogebic County Scout Camp for Girls Is Now Reality
Gogebic County reports a new camp built for boys and girls as a $1200 project. Martin Johnson of Bessemer supervised, with J K E McNicholas of Marenisco and John Anderson of Ironwood guiding the build. Built of hemlock logs, two stories, 24 by 36 feet, with a 10 by 36 porch facing the lake. The two story log camp sits on sturdy posts, with eight foot eaves, large windows, and open roof space. The camp faced log shortages countywide, yet work continued by dedicated locals in a community effort. The board funded a 14 by 16 kitchen addition as completion neared.

Mr and Mrs Byrne and Miss Alice Connelly attended the ceremony with Connelly as bridesmaid. Byrne is a well known former resident who moved to Duluth last year and holds a responsible position with a Duluth firm. They plan to reside in Duluth.
