The A D Johnston High School and St Ambrose High School held two rounds of practice debates last Saturday at L L Wright High School. No judges were used as the event aimed to test format and familiarity with the debated issue. The subject was whether the federal government should provide essential medical care for all citizens at public expense, marking a county history first. Speech Correction Program At Washington School
Miss Gladys E. Simpson, speech therapist, reported that 37 Washington School students receive speech corrective service at a Bessemer Board of Education meeting. The program started in Bessemer with a survey of all students, began in fall 1962, and runs on alternating days. The 37 participants include 22 new and 15 carryover cases across grades one to nine, comprising 9.6 percent of enrollment.
