County aid program overwhelmed as applications rise
County poor commissioner's office under Justice W. J. Haggerson and H. L. Cummins reports daily 20 to 30 aid applications for food clothing and coal. Up to date 374 orders issued with each applicant receiving at least two orders and sometimes three. Many applicants are injured or unable to work, some in hospital, waiting until next month for further aid as funds from county appropriations prove insufficient and more money is expected soon.
